was spread like a fire in a jungle. One of the political cartoonists, Clifford
Berryman, read an article and decided to draw a cartoon image which includes US
president, black bear and his assistant Holt Collier, and tried to portrait that
Mr. Roosevelt is refusing that he will not shoot that bear. The cartoon
appeared on the November 16, 1902, edition of The Washington Post newspaper.

Morris Mitchom and his wife Rose saw Berryman's cartoon and they
both decided to create a stuffed toy bear, commemorating the President. They
called it ‘’Teddy Bear’’. After
receiving Mr Roosevelt's permission, he mass produced the bears which became
very popular. They also eventually open a toy company. Children love teddy a lot
