What Stops India from Cycling Its Way up?

Earlier due to less traffic people were free to move on roads using their foot-steps or by using their personal vehicle that is Bi-cycle or Motorcycle or Scooter or Car. As per the survey we can easily judge that from the last 10 years the probability of using cars has increased. It seems like there is no place left to do cycling either in the morning or in the evening. Cycle path are useless as they are been covered half by the shopkeepers or the path is not fully completed.
Did you know that more children die in road accidents each and every year than due to crimes against them? A report estimates that there is estimated 43 children present everyday at the toll. As compared to last year there have been over 1.3 million reported deaths on the roads. What is this all about? Are we becoming devil instead of becoming angel?
Logically it can be seen that if cities have to be made smarter and safer, then urban planning should resort to better, cheaper and cleaner modes of transport. Dr Steven Fleming, architect and consultant at Cycle Space International, a city that provides for bicycle-architecture called Velotopia, where bicycles are the default mode of transportation and not cars.
How will Velotopia help the Indian citizens?
Fleming says, “Velotopia would allow for all the advantages of 21st century urban life as we know it, except with healthier activity levels, less pollution, and more human connection.”
Some of the salient features are:
A typical cycle-friendly infrastructure will protect from all kinds of weather. Rather than juggling for a car parking miles away from a shopping mall and having to walk all the way down, it becomes easier if bicycle architecture lets you cycle up to the stores. It is good if you cover the distance from car parking to the store front floor only by bi-cycle, instead of juggling for a car parking which seems so far after the shopping is completed.
Bi-cycle Highways or Bike Highways and Pedestrian bridges that connect the raised buildings would work as passageways for bikers.
Acres of land minus cars will provide you ample space for urban farming and entertainment.
Reduction in the use of cars and the acres of land will provide you ample space for urban farming and development.
There is another way to control or reduce the traffic as it can be discriminated according to the age factor.
If both the origin and the destination are equally designed then it would not take 30 minutes to cover the distance of 10 Km.

I hope that it will cover the entire summary regarding the importance of Bicycle which India’s youth is looking.
